How to Set Up and Use a Self-Contained Portable Sink

A self-contained sink is designed to avoid fixed plumbing, so setup is much simpler than installing a conventional basin. It still needs to be positioned safely, supplied with fresh water, connected to the correct electrical supply and checked regularly during use. Always follow the instructions supplied with your exact model because components and options can vary.

1. Position the unit

Place the sink on a stable, level surface with enough room to access the cabinet, containers and electrical connections. Allow clearance for doors and drawers and make sure the unit will not obstruct walkways, treatment areas or emergency access.

2. Fill and connect the fresh-water container

Fill the designated fresh-water container with suitable clean water and connect it as described in the product instructions. Keep the fresh-water container separate from the waste container and make sure hoses and fittings are seated correctly before operating the pump.

3. Check the waste-water container

Make sure the basin waste drains into the correct removable waste container and that the container is empty before heavy use. Check its level during the day and empty it before it becomes full. Dispose of wastewater in an appropriate location for your premises and activity.

4. Connect the electrical components

5. Test the system before the working day

Run the tap and confirm that water is being drawn from the fresh container, that hot and cold operation works as expected, and that the basin drains cleanly into the waste container. Check for loose fittings or leaks before the sink is used with clients or customers.

Daily routine

Check fresh- and waste-water levels regularly, keep the basin and tap clean using products suitable for their materials, inspect visible hoses and connections, and do not allow wastewater to remain in the unit longer than necessary. Follow any additional cleaning, maintenance and storage instructions supplied with the system.
